Mineral UV Filter formulas avoid the use of any nanoparticles. Instead, zinc oxide and titanium oxide are used in lightweight non-comedogenic formulas. This formulation uses mainly ZnO for protective effects (because in addition to reflecting / refracting light, ZnO is actually also capable of absorbing ultraviolet rays without creating oxygen radicals) and the supporting TiO2 it contains is only in rutile form.
